Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Supervisor with in-depth knowledge of pumps used in the oil and gas industry to lead a team of 10 mechanics and technicians. The ideal candidate must have extensive experience in the maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and overhaul of various types of pumps, including centrifugal, positive displacement, and submersible pumps. The role involves overseeing the repair and maintenance of pumps to ensure efficient, safe, and reliable operations in harsh conditions typical of the oil and gas sector.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Team Supervision & Leadership:
  • Lead, train, and manage a team of 10 mechanics and pump technicians, ensuring work is performed safely and efficiently.
  • Assign daily tasks, monitor team performance, and ensure timely completion of pump maintenance and repairs.
  • Provide technical support and mentorship to team members, offering guidance on pump-related issues and best practices.
  • Organize regular meetings to assess work progress, identify challenges, and establish effective solutions.

Pump Maintenance & Repair:

  • Oversee the routine maintenance, inspection, and repair of a wide variety of pumps, including centrifugal, positive displacement, diaphragm, and submersible pumps.
  • Disassemble, troubleshoot, repair, and reassemble pump systems, ensuring proper functioning and reliability.
  • Diagnose complex pump malfunctions using advanced diagnostic tools and techniques, identifying and addressing the root causes of problems.
  • Ensure that all pumps are maintained according to manufacturer specifications and comply with industry standards.

Planning & Scheduling:

  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules to ensure pumps are operating at peak efficiency with minimal downtime.
  • Coordinate with the operations and maintenance teams to plan major pump overhauls and repairs.
  • Ensure timely availability of spare parts, managing inventory and liaising with suppliers to procure necessary components.
  • Lead and manage on-site pump overhauls, including resource planning and coordination of personnel and materials.

Health, Safety, and Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with all HSE (Health, Safety, and Environmental) standards during pump maintenance and repair work.
  • Conduct safety briefings and ensure the team adheres to all safety regulations and procedures, particularly when working with high-pressure pump systems.
  • Implement and monitor safety measures to minimize risk in the workplace, especially in hazardous environments like oil and gas extraction sites.
  • Participate in safety audits and risk assessments related to pump operation and maintenance.

Problem Solving & Troubleshooting:

  • Lead troubleshooting efforts in the event of pump failures, utilizing experience and diagnostic tools to identify and resolve issues quickly.
  • Respond to emergency situations, providing rapid repair solutions to minimize downtime and maintain operational flow.
  • Collaborate with other departments (such as electrical, instrumentation, and process engineers) for complex troubleshooting.

Reporting & Documentation:

  • Maintain detailed records of all pump maintenance, repairs, and overhauls, ensuring accurate and complete documentation.
  • Provide regular progress reports to management, outlining the status of pump systems, maintenance activities, and any major issues encountered.
  • Prepare technical reports on pump failures, root cause analysis, and recommended improvements.

Key Requirements:

Education & Qualifications:

  • Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field.
  • Certifications or specialized training in pump maintenance and repair are highly desirable.

Experience:

  • Minimum 7 years of hands-on experience in pump maintenance, repair, and overhaul, preferably within the oil and gas sector.
  • Proven experience supervising and leading a team of mechanics and technicians (5+ years in a supervisory role preferred).
  • Extensive knowledge of various types of pumps, including centrifugal, reciprocating, diaphragm, gear, and screw pumps used in oil and gas operations.

Skills:

  • Expert knowledge in the disassembly, troubleshooting, repair, and reassembly of a wide range of pump systems.
  • Strong ability to diagnose and resolve pump-related problems, such as cavitation, seal failures, impeller damage, and bearing issues.
  • Familiarity with pump diagnostics tools, vibration analysis, and performance testing.
  • Proficiency in interpreting technical manuals, schematics, and diagrams related to pump systems.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with a focus on safety, quality, and efficiency.
