About the Role
We are seeking a Project Coordinator – Construction I to join our Client team in Madagascar. This role is critical to the successful execution of complex industrial projects. The Project Coordinator will oversee on-site construction activities, coordinate contractors and consultants, and support Project Engineers in delivering projects on time, safely, and to Client’’s standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and supervise contractors and consultants during project execution.
- Manage multiple work areas daily and oversee less complex projects (up to two concurrently, each valued under US$5M).
- Monitor performance, identify shortcomings, and propose solutions during execution.
- Support Project Engineers and Project Managers in day-to-day delivery activities.
- Prepare reports, documentation, and construction communications.
- Conduct site inspections of equipment, materials, and work progress.
- Ensure availability of required materials and equipment.
- Assist in resolving site-based design and construction issues.
- Maintain compliance with safety standards, legal regulations, and Ambatovy’s Management of Change process.
- Ensure documentation meets ISO 9001 requirements and company policies.
Skills & Qualifications
- Degree or diploma in Chemical, Mechanical, Industrial, or Electrical Engineering (construction management training is an asset).
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in construction coordination/supervision of contractors/sub-contractors in chemical, hydrometallurgical projects, or refineries.
- Preference for candidates with experience in projects valued at US$5M or higher.
- Strong understanding of construction operations and processes.
- Experience in developing countries is an asset.
- Background in risk assessment and management of change.
- Proven ability to supervise technical and construction personnel.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Proficiency in CAD software, MS Office, and MS Project.
- Knowledge of API and ASME codes.
- Demonstrated ability to train and develop subordinates.
- Fluency in English required; French is a strong asset.
- Excellent relationship-building and management skills.
