Overview

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Preparator of Job Cards and Work Packs to join our project team for a major Oil and Gas initiative. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating, assembling, and maintaining comprehensive work packs, including detailed job cards, to support efficient and safe execution of all maintenance, construction, and modification activities on site. This role is crucial for translating engineering specifications and maintenance plans into clear, executable instructions for field personnel.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work Pack Creation and Assembly:

    • Develop, compile, and issue complete Work Packs for various scopes of work (e.g., mechanical, piping, electrical, instrumentation, scaffolding).
    • Ensure all packs are assembled in accordance with the project's standards, procedures, and governing regulations.
    • Coordinate with Planning, Engineering, Operations, and Maintenance teams to gather all necessary documentation.
  • Job Card Preparation:

    • Create detailed, step-by-step Job Cards (or Task Instructions) for field execution, incorporating safety requirements and quality control checkpoints.
    • Ensure job cards accurately reflect the scope, required resources (tools, materials, personnel), and estimated time for completion.
    • Integrate relevant information such as drawings, P&IDs, specifications, vendor manuals, and isolation procedures into the job cards.
  • Documentation Management:

    • Manage the review and approval workflow for job cards and work packs by relevant stakeholders (e.g., Discipline Engineers, Safety Leads, Operations).
    • Ensure all documents within the work pack (e.g., permits, checklists, test forms) are the latest revisions and properly controlled.
    • Maintain an auditable record of all issued, executed, and closed-out work packs and job cards in the project management system.
  • Quality and Safety Assurance:

    • Verify that all work packs comply with project Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) requirements and include necessary Risk Assessments and Permit-to-Work requirements.
    • Ensure work packs include required Quality Control (QC) documentation, inspection and test plans (ITPs), and sign-off sheets.
  • Continuous Improvement:

    • Participate in post-job reviews to incorporate lessons learned and feedback from the field into future job cards and work pack development.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Education: A technical diploma or degree in a relevant Engineering discipline (e.g., Mechanical, Civil, Industrial, or Electrical) is preferred.
  • Experience:

    • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a similar role within the Oil and Gas, Petrochemical, or heavy industrial sectors.
    • Proven experience in planning, preparing, or executing maintenance, construction, or commissioning scopes of work.
    • Familiarity with industry-standard Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) such as SAP PM, Maximo, or similar is highly desirable.
  • Skills:

    • High level of attention to detail and organizational skills.
    • Strong ability to read and interpret technical documents, Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), engineering drawings, and specifications.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Work Pack On-Time Delivery: Percentage of work packs completed and issued according to the project schedule.
  • Field Rework Rate: Minimizing rework caused by incomplete or incorrect job cards.
  • Documentation Compliance: Audit score for completeness and correctness of closed-out work packs.
