- Assign daily tasks, monitor job performance, and ensure the timely completion of valve and PSV maintenance and repairs.
- Provide technical guidance and training to the team on valve systems and PSV maintenance, as well as troubleshooting techniques.
- Hold regular team meetings to review progress, discuss challenges, and set priorities for ongoing maintenance tasks.
Valve & PSV Maintenance and Repair:
- Oversee the inspection, testing, calibration, maintenance, and repair of a wide range of industrial valves and PSVs, including control valves, gate valves, ball valves, butterfly valves, and safety relief valves.
- Ensure that all PSVs are calibrated and maintained according to regulatory and manufacturer specifications, preventing failures in high-pressure environments.
- Disassemble, troubleshoot, repair, and reassemble valve systems and PSVs, ensuring they meet performance requirements.
- Supervise and perform diagnostic activities, including leak tests, pressure tests, and functional testing of valves and safety systems.
Planning & Execution:
- Develop and execute preventive and corrective maintenance schedules for all valves and PSVs across the facility, reducing the risk of failures and unplanned downtime.
- Plan and supervise valve and PSV overhauls, coordinating personnel, tools, and materials to ensure timely and effective repairs.
- Manage spare parts inventory for valves and PSVs, ensuring the availability of critical components for repairs and maintenance.
- Lead and coordinate major valve and PSV maintenance projects, including shutdowns, turnarounds, and equipment upgrades.
Health, Safety, and Compliance:
- Ensure all work on valves and PSVs is carried out following strict HSE (Health, Safety, and Environmental) regulations and industry standards.
- Conduct regular safety briefings, risk assessments, and safety audits to ensure the team is aware of hazards and safety protocols related to valve and PSV work.
- Ensure that all valve and PSV equipment is maintained in compliance with API standards (API 527, API 576), as well as local regulatory requirements.
- Identify potential hazards or operational risks related to valves and PSVs, and implement safety improvements to minimize these risks.
Problem Solving & Troubleshooting:
- Lead the troubleshooting and resolution of complex valve and PSV issues, including leakages, pressure anomalies, corrosion, or component failures.
- Respond to emergency valve and PSV failures, coordinating repairs quickly and effectively to minimize operational downtime.
- Collaborate with other departments (such as operations, process engineering, and instrumentation) to address integrated system issues related to valves and PSVs.
Reporting & Documentation:
- Ensure all maintenance and repair work on valves and PSVs is properly documented, including calibration records, test results, and repair histories.
- Prepare and submit detailed reports on valve and PSV performance, highlighting any issues or recommendations for improvement.
- Provide regular updates to senior management on the status of valve and PSV maintenance, upcoming repairs, and potential areas of concern.
Key Requirements:
Education & Qualifications:
- Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field.
- Certification or training in valve maintenance, PSV calibration, and testing is highly desirable (e.g., from API or ASME).
Experience:
- Minimum 7 years of hands-on experience in the maintenance and repair of valves and PSVs, preferably in the oil and gas, petrochemical, or heavy industrial sectors.
- Proven experience in a supervisory role (5+ years) overseeing valve and PSV maintenance teams.
- Extensive knowledge of different types of valves and PSVs, including their operation, common failure modes, and best practices for repair.
Skills:
- Expert-level knowledge in the disassembly, troubleshooting, calibration, and repair of various valve systems and PSVs.
- Proficiency in using diagnostic and testing tools for valves and PSVs, including pressure testing equipment and calibration tools.
- Familiarity with industry standards and best practices for valve and PSV maintenance (e.g., API, ASME, ANSI).
- Strong leadership and communication skills to manage a team effectively while ensuring high safety and performance standards.
Personal Attributes:
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure, particularly during emergencies or critical repairs.
- Attention to detail, with a strong focus on safety, compliance, and quality.
- A proactive approach to identifying and implementing improvements in valve and PSV operations and maintenance.
- Organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize and plan multiple tasks effectively.
