Your main responsibilities
We're looking for a Project Lead (M/F) to join and to support the teams of our client, a major player in the mining industry. He/She will be responsible for the management of the entire project. In addition, he/she will also be in charge of managing the project coordinators, quality assurance and quality control, as well as subcontractors, throughout the life cycle of the project.
He/she is responsible for leading each project with a clearly defined strategy and at the same time interfacing with all stakeholders (client, contractors, management, other departments).
The missions will be :
Project Development Leading
- Lead the entire project within the strategies, budget and timeline in a clear documentation prior to senior management/CAPEX committee official approval
- Define and identify all deliverables and work packages related to the Project prior to senior management official approval
- Lead the tendering process with SCM department support including scope of work, tendering package delivery, clarifications and technical bid evaluation
- Lead technical bid evaluation related to each tendering, with the support from other parties, such as Engineering, QA/QC and HS
- Lead the cost estimation within all budget approval and cost schedule prior to senior management/CAPEX committee official approval
- Coordinate with all key stakeholders (engineering, supply chain management, Maintenance, operations, QA/QC specialist, end user)
- Prepare and define all project risks and appropriate mitigation
Project Execution
- Lead an entire team or complete program
- Manage safety performance/incidents on his/her projects
- Manage execution strategy and timeline for the project achievement
- Ensure that the project progress stick to the commitment to the CAPEX Committee
- Assign and ensure that the right supervision (project coordinators or consultants) related to the project scope is in place and coordination with operation / client is managed properly Manage all the teams assigned to the projects such as Project coordinators, HS and contractors
- Manage the project budget including the Cost Performance Index (CPI), forecast and accruals within contingencies
- Manage cost schedule and project forecast and accrual
- Manage all change(s) related to the project from the beginning to the end
- Escalate any issues/incident to the PEX Management
- Participate in contract elaboration and negotiation
- Execute the project following the approved project booklet
- Safely manage the construction process for various packages and contracts as relevant to the Project(s)
- Organize weekly meeting with Client and/or other stakeholders
- Report the project to senior management/other stakeholders
Execute entire closure and sign off of the project within punch list completion and complete documentation
CAPEX Committee
- Present his/her project to CAPEX Committee
- Present his program to Senior management/shareholder representative if required
- Manage execution strategy and timeline for the project achievement
Your background
Education :
- An Engineering degree (civil, mechanical, E/I) or equivalent from a recognized University
- Complementary training certification (certificate of completion COC) in project management
Skills :
- Fluency in English, Fluency in french is a strong asset
- Successful position in a project groups will be an asset
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Strong technical knowledge in related engineering (electrical/instrumentation/mechanical or civil/structural)
- Previous experience in Project/Construction Engineering/Management in heavy industries/mining/oil & gas
- Strong in MS Office/MS project Advanced Excel, PowerPoint
- Experience in project management including reporting, quality control, budgets and cost control, and administration
- Strong leadership with a capability to manage and deliver a project
Experience :
- At least 5-8 years of experience as a "Project Lead II" in the industrial world on complex chemical, hydrometallurgical or refinery projects. Preference is given to candidates with previous experience in projects valued at $15 million USD.
- More than 10 years of experience in contractor/subcontractor construction coordination/supervision.
- More than 5 years of successful experience in shutdown activities.
