Our client is a metals and mining company. They carry out the exploration, development, mining and refining of various metals and minerals. They produce copper, gold, zinc, nickel, silver, and copper cathode. The company’s major mines include the Kansanshi copper mine, Trident copper mine, Ravensthorpe nickel, and Cobre Panama mines. The company also owns development projects including Guelb Moghrein copper-gold mine, Las Cruces copper mine, Pyhasalmi copper-zinc mine, Cayeli copper-zinc mine, Taca Taca, La Granja, and Haquira project. They operate mines in in Zambia, Mauritania, Argentina, Panama, Peru, Finland, Australia, Turkey, and Spain. They are headquartered in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

Scope of work

We are seeking a highly experienced Construction Manager to oversee our construction projects in Spain. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and managing all aspects of construction operations, ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget. You will work closely with various stakeholders, including engineering teams, contractors, and regulatory bodies.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage construction projects from initiation through to completion, ensuring alignment with company standards and objectives.
  • Develop and implement project plans, schedules, and budgets, monitoring progress and adjusting as necessary.
  • Coordinate with engineering, procurement, and operations teams to ensure seamless execution of construction activities.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations at all project sites.
  • Supervise and mentor construction teams, fostering a culture of safety and teamwork.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to assess progress, quality, and adherence to design specifications.
  • Liaise with contractors, suppliers, and local authorities to resolve any issues and maintain project momentum.
  • Prepare regular reports on project status, including updates on schedule, budget, and resource allocation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ of experience in construction management, preferably in the mining or heavy industry sector.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing large-scale construction projects.
  • Strong knowledge of construction processes, techniques, and safety standards.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to manage diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in project management software and tools.
  • Fluent in English and Spanish; additional languages are a plus.
